The first week (4 days after release) of sales data for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Japan are in! Selling 820,000 copies in its first week, SSBB is on its way to crossing that first million mark. It was an interesting week in Japan with Devil May Cry 4 releasing on the same day as SSBB, the sales numbers for the week show a new trend for Japanese gamers. Hit the jump for a full report.
The top ten best selling games in Japan this week (1.28-2.03) bring a new hope to PS3 owner's everywhere. With SSBB taking the top spot, the rest of the scoreboard is rounded out by not one but three PS3 titles. With Devil May Cry 4 taking 2nd place, Disgaea 3 taking 6th place and finally Assassin's Creed taking 9th place, the PS3 had a very good showing.

2. Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) - 205,000
3. Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut (PS2) - 117,000
4. Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi (PS2) - 114,000
5. Wii Fit (Wii) - 73,000
6. Disgaea 3 (PS3) - 55,000
7. Devil May Cry 4 (Xbox 360) - 40,000
8. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (DS) - 34,000
9. Assassin's Creed (PS3) - 28,000
10. World Soccer Winning Eleven: Ubiquitous Evolution 2008 (PSP) - 26,000
Given that the Wii is poised to win the current console war and that Super Smash Bros. Brawl received a perfect score from Famitsu, it's probably safe to predict that Brawl will continue on to become the #1 selling game this generation.
