Gen X'ers frequenty reflect upon the 16-bit era as the Golden Age of videogames. These fond memories can typically be attributed to the excellent line up of RPG's gracing the Super Nintendo - Final Fantasy III, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger, just to name a few. Wait...did someone say Chrono Trigger.
Not to be outdone by the Xbox 360, the Nintendo DS has bounced back with the announcement of three new RPG's.
First...and...you'll want to sit down for this one...Square Enix announced Chrono Trigger for NDS, a remake of the classic 16-bit RPG. Chrono Triger DS is set for release in winter 2008.
Bandai Namco also announced a new Tales game for the NDS, Tales of Hearts. The game will feature 2D graphics and 3D backgrounds. Tales of Hearts is also scheduled for a winter 2008 release.
Finally, Tecmo announced that it will publish a new RPG, Wind of Nostalgia for NDS. Not much else is known about the title, but stay tuned as we'll be sure to post new information as it becomes available.
Lurking in the background, Sony has also decided to join the RPG party. For the PSP, Bandai Namco announced Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2. Even the PS3 is feeling the Tales love with the ambiguous announcement of a new Tales game in the works.
