« Nintendo DS Is Cooking The Competition | Main | Best Sellers: Games And Systems 6/19 to 6/25 »
Famitsu, the authority on Japanese gaming, is reporting that SNK and Capcom are collaborating on a remake of the Neo Geo Pocket classic, SNK v. Capcom Gekitou Card Fighters, which will be creatively renamed SNK v. Capcom Card Fighters DS. Brilliant!
According to Famitsu, the Nintendo DS exclusive will feature characters from over 40 different SNK and Capcom titles in over 400 different cards. Apparently, we can expect to see cameos from the cast of great games such as Biohazard (Resident Evil), Mark of the Wolves, Devil May Cry, The King of Fighters, Rockman (Mega Man), Samurai Showdown and Street Fighter, just to name a few. In addition, the game will include an original story mode in which you must battle with cards to save your father from the clutches of some evil-doer.
SNK v. Capcom Card Fighters DS is set to take full advantage of the system's capabilities as it will feature use of the touch screen and wireless multi-player battles. No word yet as to whether the game will support Wi-Fi.
Unfortunately, no launch date has been announced, but we expect to see the game sometime later this year.
