20GB PS3 Is Officially Dead
In easily trouncing the Philips CDi and the Atari Jaguar for what has to be an absolute record for the shortest lifespan of any console ever produced, Sony Entertainment officially announced that production on the 20GB PS3 has ceased. As expected, Sony attempted to spin this embarrassing announcment by touting the fact that the 60GB model is outselling the 20GB model 10 to 1.
Don't worry if you spent $500 on the inferior and now discontinued model since Sony will continue to support the 20GB model.........for now anyways. And if not, 15 years from now your 20GB PS3 will certainly make a sweet collector's item!

they announced the 20GB version simply so from a technical standpoint they are offering everything and more than the 360. Now that the release has happened, they pull out at last minute. The 20GB model was simply to generate more hype.
