« Nintendo To Distribute Pixelated Crack | Main | bit Generations: Dotstream Preview »
After Kotaku's new-club-nintendo-goods-prove-america-sucks post, Pink Godzilla's inbox sprouted several inquiries on the availability of the Club Nintendo of Japan exclusive Game & Watch Collection for DS, scheduled to launch July 28. So will PG have it?
The short answer is 'Yes'.
The long answer is 'Yes, but only one measley copy!' That's because Club Nintendo limits members to one copy no matter how many bajillions of Club Nintendo points one's banked.
Don't worry! It will eventually show up on Ebay but given the popularity of the DS and the collectability of Game & Watch in Japan, this little unit is likely to go for holy-crap-esque bucks by the time it washes up on Ebay's shiny shores. It's hard to say exactly how much but considering this is a 500 pointer, it won't be cheap. Each Japanese DS title comes with 35 Club Nintendo points. Doing some Math......Ouch! That's 15 games worth of points.
If thy soul is patient, Mr. G&W Collection may run into Mr. Affordability a year or so down the line.... but then again he may not given the DS's level of popularity in Japan right now. If you want it right off the bat, Mr. Game & Watch will certainly be laughing loudly at Mr Affordability. You'll need a fat Mr. Checkbook to act.
The good news is, there's a cheaper way to get Game & Watch on your Nintendo DS. Nintendo included two Game & Watch titles in its recent uber handy Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten aka DS Kanji Dictionary. If you look up 'Judge' or 'Manhole', you'll get the so-named 'Game & Watch' titles. Judge, in fact is a 2 player game, but like the original, has to be played on one Nintendo DS.

I don't suppose someone could provide explicit instructions for accessing the two games from within the kanji dictionary? Since my Japanese is weak, I'm not sure how to do it.
Thank you.

Not a problem.
1)Look up 'Judge' in Katakana. In 'kana' mode do: Jajji. (Ji,small ya, small tsu,ji)
2)Look up 'Manhole' in Katakana. In 'kana' mode do: Manhooru (Ma, n, ho, 'bar',ru)
Hopefully that gets you there.

You can play 'Ball' and 'Flagman' in DS Kanji Dictionary, too!
To play these games, only you write these titles in handwriting mode in alphabet!
Handwriting mode is default setting.
'Judge' and 'Manhole' can be played in a same way.
