The Video Vault: Inside Edition Investigates Nintendo! (1988)

Who are Mario and Luigi? What is Nintendo? That might sound silly today. However, back in 1988, with Mario Mania sweeping the country, these questions were on everyone's mind. Luckily for the parents and non-gamers of the late 80's, Bill O'Reilly and the crack investigators at Inside Edition were on the case.

Today we jump in the Wayback Machine to visit a time long past. We'll watch as the intrepid journalists track down the elusive "Nintendo", discover the secrets of its game counselors, and unravel the mysteries of World 3-1.....

Oh....my.....goodness....
That is the most awesome mullet that I've ever seen!
It's so fluffy, I could just curl up in it and sleep all day.
I wish I could just touch it once.....Wait a minute, we're supposed to be reviewing that video, not ogling the mullet.
Oh yeah, the video! What was with all of those old people? How could they not know about Mario? Or especially Nintendo? Have they been living under a rock all of their lives?
Remember, this was 19 years ago. Videogames weren't as popular as they are now. Most older people thought that they were just another kids' toy.
Okay, but what about that Nintendo marketing guy? He didn't know that Mario and Luigi's last name really is Mario. Didn't he watch the Super Mario Bros. movie? John Leguizamo explained it very cleary; their names are Mario Mario and Luigi Mario!
I don't think you should be getting your videogame information from John Leguizamo. Besides, the Mario Bros. movie didn't exist back when they made this video.
I trust John Leguizamo. Did you know that he did the voice for Globox in Rayman 3?
Um....That's great.....So about the video.....
Oops, sorry. Who was the guy in the bowtie? I didn't know that Pee-wee Herman worked for Nintendo.
That wasn't Pee-wee. That was former Nintendo Power editor Howard Philips. He was a big shot at Nintendo back then. He even had his own comic strip called Howard and Nester.
Ugh, I never liked Nester, he was dumb.....
Yeah, nobody liked Nester. So do you have any other questions about the video? Did you learn anything important today?
I guess so. I do have one question. Is that really Bill O'Reilly? He looked so happy back then. I wonder what happened to him that made him so angry. Maybe it was because he lost all of his hair.
That's got to be it, if only he had a gigantic mullet he wouldn't be so angry all the time.
Mmmmm, mullet......

Digg this!
