2:45 pm - Elder Taragan and Pink Godzilla touch down safely at the New Narita Airport. First impression. What the Pink! Tokyo is 90 degrees with 90% humidty in September. We`ve only been in Japan less than five minutes, but due to the sauna -like atmosphere, Pinky G has already lost 10 pounds.

2:57 pm - In line at customs, Pinky G has lost another 17 pounds as Elder Taragan stuffs Pinky G in his backpack in an attempt to sneak Pinky G through quarantine.

4:51 pm - Elder Taragan and Pinky G arrive at Tokyo Station and head out the Yaesu exit to the trusty old Hotel Haimat, where rooms are as spacious and luxurios as a sardine tin. The duo didn`t make any reservations, but that shouldn`t be a problem, right...

6:04 pm - After an hour of searching for a hotel with vacancies (who`d a thunk that everything would be booked during the Tokyo Game Show weekend), the dehydrated duo finally happen across Hotel Apa. The A-P-A apparently stands for Astronomically Priced Accomodations. Elder Taragan tries to convince the lady at the front desk that Pinky G does not need a bed as the pink puff has an uncanny ability to sleep anywhere, but she will not listen to reason and requires the duo to stay in a double room.

6:17 pm - With the food budget eaten up by the hotel fare, Elder Taragan challenges Pinky G to eat on less than 1500 yen ($12) a day for the rest of the trip. This will not be an easy task considering the Japan is one of the most expensive countries in the world and Pinky G has an insatiable appetite.

6:19 pm - Pinky G falls asleep on top of a bucket of ice.

6:27 pm - Recalling the No Consento experience, Elder Taragan heads off to Akihabara to locate an adaptor so that he can plug the laptom into the two-prong electrical sockets in the hotel.

6:42 pm - While in Akihabara, Elder Taragan seeks the help of the man from the North Woods in locating hotel accomodations for the next couple of days. Damn this Tokyo Game Show!

The Official Count

When traveling, Pinky G likes to pass the time by counting the number of people playing DS as opposed to PSP. Since the DS always seems to win, Pinky G decided to up the ante by including books and maids. Who will take the gold in this crowded field? Check back daily as Pinky G will update the tally at the end of each blog post.

As expected, the NDS jumps out of the gates to take an early lead. Don`t look now but books are hot the NDS`s heals. Who says kids don`t read anymore? Maids are starting slowly but will they be able to rebound as Pinky G and Elder Taragan tour Akihabara during the next couple of days? Only time will tell, but Pinky G`s money is on books.
