Just when we thought that the PS3 had turned the corner and was starting to build some momentum heading into fourth quarter of 2008, the PS3 has suffered a major setback. One that even the once mighty Sony may not be able to recover from. Square Enix has announced today that Final Fantasy XIII will not be a PS3 exclusive. For some added sand to the eyes and a boot to the yam sack, FF XIII will apparently launch on the same date for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in the US and Europe.
We'd like to say we're surprised by this announcement, but considering Square Enix has yet to develop a game for the PS3 while throwing its support behind the Xbox 360 and NDS, this was kind of expected. Besides, small installed user base divided by high development costs equals no exclusivity for the PS3. As the days pass, it's becoming apparent that the PS3 will be the Gamecube of this generation - good first party titles, but not much beyond that.

No! The PS3 is not dead! There are several quality titles coming from Insomniac Games in the near future that you should buy several copies of! Like, maybe five each! Hurry and preorder massive quantities now before it's too late!
