PAX 2007: The Building of Da Boof

Da boof, da boof, da boof. Where does it come from? Where does it go? Nobody knows... Almost nobody. Listen closely as secrets to its mythical origins are possibly revealed.... Possibly! Some say it was carved from a smaller booth.

More pictures of the booth after the fold.

The booth space prior to arrival. Cold and barren. Without a soul. If it wasn't for the tiny Pink Godzilla LLC sign that told us that this is OUR space, we might have built our booth in Rockstar's giant frickin' space across the aisle.

Our PAX setup day starts bright and early. We meet at the store at 6 am to load up the Uhaul. This picture was shot at around 7:30 am after we unloaded in the convention hall. Some of us are a little more excited than others to be awake this early.

Step 1: Build the Walls. We've got this down to an art and can usually snap it together in 30 minutes. Oh snap!

Step 2: Zip-tie, zip-tie, zip-tie. One of mankind's greatest inventions! When this picture was shot most of the games were already zip-tied to the wall. What you're seeing is like 8 hours of work. :)

At the end of the first day, PAX puts on an exhibitor party and provides free drink and food. After a full-day of setup, the PG crew was feeling pretty exhausted. The party was a great chance to relax and hang out with fellow exhibitors plus check out all the cool stuff before any one else does. Hehe!

The Behemoth folks are really cool and a great inspiration to us. We went out for drinks with them a couple nights during PAX. Make sure you check out their PAX07 write-up on their site.

Here's a shot of our retro section prior to the doors opening. Ain't it purty? Nobody sell nothin'! It looks too good.

Here's a shot of the rare case. It was pretty cool to have a Nintendo 64DD launch set on hand. You don't see too many of those at your local Pink Godzilla these days...

Booth is open for business! The crowds were huge but the booth definitely felt a lot less cramped than last year when our booth was a third of the size.

Finally, a special shout-out to all the PG crew, many of whom volunteered to work in oppressive conditions and did not complain when they were fed water and spam.
