REDMOND, WA. - Speaking from deep within their corporate stronghold, Microsoft executives abandoned plans to distribute their XNA development kit to the user community, claiming that even the international software juggernaut is powerless in the face of the towering behemoth that is Pink Godzilla.
"This 'Dev Kit' is obviously some ploy to uproot Microsoft from the game development community. To this we respond thusly - complete surrender. There is nothing we can do... we... I don't know."
After a long pause, cradling his head in his hands and weeping softly, he continued, "I just don't know."
Minutes later, after said executive was informed that the Pink Godzilla Dev Kit was in fact a trading card game and not, as suspected, a full-fledged game development platform, the executive rescinded his comments, apologizing for his emotional outburst.
"We at Microsoft were understandably upset when Pink Godzilla announced their plans for a 'Dev Kit'," the executive responded. "Pink Godzilla entering Microsoft territory would inevitably tear this company apart from the inside. Developers would leave the Xbox and Windows platforms in droves, eager to 'roll with the Pink'. Surrender would, understandably, be the only option." Still reeling from the shock of the announcement, the executive paused to catch his breath. "Phew, you guys really had us... I mean, we were gonna..! But now, I think we should be OK. We'll keep an eye on those Pink Godzilla guys, but... don't scare us like that. Seriously."
Staring coldly from behind dead eyes, the exec repeated slowly, "Seriously."
While not a software development platform in the traditional sense, the PG Dev Kit is a fun new trading card game, allowing players to simulate the process of developing a video game without losing millions of dollars in bloated budgets and thousands of man-hours in overtime.
When contacted for comment, Pink Godzilla associates apologized for the misunderstanding, assuring this outlet that they had "no plans to enter Microsoft territory".
"Yet."
