Pink Godzilla is counting down the Japanese launch of the bit Generations line-up with a preview of each new game in the series. First up is Dotstream. Dotstream is a racing game with simple graphics that you might expect from a Vectrex, only in full color sans the overlays.
The objective is simple - be the first to race your stream of color through the obstacle course - achieving victory, however, is anything but. The challenge lies in the player's strategic implementation of the game's unique "drafting" system.
You take control of the Dotstream that is flashing, but in the beginning, your Dotstream is considerably slower than the competition. You gradually build up your top speed by racing along side, or "drafting," your competitors. The more you draft, the higher your top speed. Of course, the faster you go, the more difficult it becomes to zip through the obstacles unscathed.

Here's what the Beta testers had to say about the game on Nintendo of Japan's blog:
"As I watch the colored lines race across the screen like the blip on an EKG monitor, I mysteriously feel at peace. I think that the price is great, and I love the retro package design, which is so different from what we've come to expect from Nintendo."
"At first glance, the game looks so simple that you wonder if it could possibly be fun, but once you pick it up, you can't put it down. I don't even like racing games, but even still I had a lot of fun playing Dotstream. And although the graphics are simple, the game really conveys a sense of speed as you race through the course."
"This game is excellent for when you come home from work and just want to play a quick game to relax."
"When I first saw the game, I thought that the graphics were pretty plain. But then I tried playing the game and I was instantly hooked. Before I knew it, hours had passed...The game's excellent techno backbeats are not what you would expect from the GBA."
"I first played the game without reading the instruction manual, and even still I was able to get pretty good at the game. The concept is so simple yet it feels like a whole new gaming experience. The more I played and the more I understood the rules, the more addicted I became. People of all ages will have fun playing this game."
