Ouendan 2 Review - It's Automatically Awesome!

In the beginning there was Ouendan - the game that made gamers of every profession consider a career in cheerleading. OSU! Then came Elite Beat Agents - the game that exposed the government's shadowy DDD, Department of Disco Dancin'. As for the third game in the series? Well, let's just say that it's full of hot-blooded rhythm soul, making it automatically awesome!

Read on for Pinky G and Jumpman's impressions.

So....have you...uh...played Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2, yet?
...........................................pinK U!
Oh come on Jumpman. I said I was sorry already. It was just a cameo.
Ya know, if you're gonna answer my phone while I'm in the bathroom, you can at least gimme the message when I get back. That could have been my big break. Instead, I miss another audition and that idiotic "It's-a-me" plumber in red steals the part from me again.
Mama mia!
Don't even talk to me. Just go back to playing your stupid little cheerleader game.
OU-----EN----DAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So.....................
So what?
So is it any good?
Pink yeah it is. Without a doubt, Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 is as good as the name is long. Like the prequel, Ouendan 2 is an action-music game published by Nintendo but developed by Inis. In Ouendan 2, you take on the role of two different groups of Japanese male cheerleaders who cheer people on to succeed at otherwise mundane tasks in their daily lives. For instance, in one stage you're helping a stuffed monkey escape from a garbage truck to return home. In another, you're helping everyone's favorite super hero.......
Who, me? The 2D hero in a 3D world...
...uh....no...not Jumpman but Cell Phone Man. There is even a stage in which you have to cheer on an infant to prevent him from wetting the bed. This stage features a Mario and Luigi cameo, in which they try to fix the kids'...uh... plumbing.
Enough about the pinkin' Mario brothers already. So how is Ouendan 2 any different from the first?
For one, Ouendan 2 features 19 new songs with all new game play scenarios. Unlike EBA, the sound quality of Ouendan 2 is on par with its predecessor. Ouendan-ers will be happy to learn that the mildly annoying whistle sound effect, while still present, has been toned down a few decibels. Also, the difficulty has been cranked up a notch as you are sure to experience a few "Pink, pink, pink...Mother pinkin', pinker" moments. But when you do finally score that "S" on 'Sekai ha Sore wo Ai to Yobundaze' with the extreme difficulty setting, you can save a replay to show off to your friends, like this.
Wow! That was impressive. Ouendan 2 does look a lot harder than the first, or even EBA for that matter. But how is the multi-player?
Pinkin' awesome. The folks over at Inis have continued to tinker with the mulit-player mode, and their hard work definitely shows. In addition to a new set of zany game play scenarios and the ability to select your cheerleader, Ouendan 2 boasts single cart download play for up to four players. Best of all, most of the scoring anomalies that plagued Ouendan and EBA have been remedied.
Sweet! I've got my DS Lite on me, hook me up!
Are you sure?
I'm good. Just don't select the stage that features you-know-who.
Who?
Mario Mario! Yeah, I walked right into that one.
