Arkanoid DS Review

Arkanoid is one of the most memorable classic games that has stood the test of time in this current DS release. The game is very fun to play with the paddle controller attachment for the DS that slides into the GBA slot and is sturdy, accurate and perfectly sized to play the game with. The paddle controller works with both the original DS and the DS Lite and is a great import as the Japanese language menus are easy to navigate for any gamer without any trouble. The game itself has a lot of unlockable content such as backgrounds, music, new paddles to name a few as well as many different modes of play. Hit the jump for a review of this classic game with pics included.

Slide Adventure Mag Kid

Slide Adventure: Mag Kid is a culmination of everything that makes the Japanese style of game creation different. It has all the elements that make a game fun to play; an interesting story, good music, and innovative gameplay. The game it self is simple enough, the player takes on the role of a refrigerator magnet and by sliding the DS around on a flat surface, moves the magnet around the different levels. The ‘optical mouse’ peripheral for the DS gives the player a lot of control and is very responsive and even has built in rumble. Hit the jump for a full review of this quirky DS game from Japan.

Sugoi! Sugoi!: Game Center CX Coming to DS

Game Center CX is a hilarious Japanese comedy TV show built on a very simple premise. In each episode, one man, comedian Shinya Arino, sits and plays an old-school console game (usually Famicom) while being filmed. The hitch is he has to beat the game in one sitting... or else he loses the challenge for that episode and must face the embarrassment of his failure by being lampooned across the intertube. The show has gained tremendous popularity in Japan and previous years are available on DVD. In the DS-crazed land of stinky ramen and teriyaki shrimpburgers, we can't say we're surprised that it's coming to the DS. But we can say we're glad!

To give you a feel for the show, we've tracked down an awesome episode featuring one of the hardest games ever released for any consoler: Transformers Convoy no Nazo. Also known as, Transformers Mystery of Convoy, Transformers is a ridiculously tough one-shot-and-you-burst-into-flames side scrolling platformer released for the Famicom in 1986. No NES version was ever released. Gorankudasai. (have a look)

Subarashiki Kono Sekai Is Wonderful

SKS.Box.jpg
Since the days of the NES, a system's success has been largely dependent upon the software support of Square and Enix...or SquareEnix. Titles such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Front Mission helped Sony to dominate sales with the PSOne and PS2. But for the first time since 1994, SquareEnix has decided to throw its weight behind a Nintendo system - a hand held no doubt.

SquareEnix has already graced the dual screen with Final Fantasy, Itadaki Street, Secret of Mana and Dragon Quest titles. And with Dragon Quest IX, far and away the most popular gaming series in Japan, announced as a NDS exclusive, it appears to be a forgone conclusion that the NDS will dominate all systems of the current generation, whether they be hand held or console.

As a likely byproduct of their familiarity with the system, SquareEnix has begun to release original properties to the NDS. First, there were the obligatory non-gamer educational titles such as a gardening game and a classical music game. But now we're starting to see the might of SquareEnix manifested in unique properties for gamers. The first is a stylish new action RPG called Subarashiki Kono Sekai.

Read on for Pinky G and Jumpman's review!

Pink Godzilla's Balloon Fight Review

Balloon.Fight.jpgWhat the pink? Yes, that's right Pink Godzilla is starring in his very own NDS game. And no it's nothing at all like Tingle's Balloon Fight. Then you have to complete the PGSTC spirit quest. Finally, you have to know how to use all three Guardians on one turn in PG Dev Kit.
