Adventures of Pink: PG Dev Kit Essen Spiel '07 Roundup

Once again, team Pink Godzilla returneth home from the LARPin' game-fest known as Spiel in Essen, Germany. And what did we learn this year? First, Mittlescharf is not the word for mustard in German. It means "medium hot". Second, Germans still like to disguise sugar as salt. Third, Germans are not in love with foosball, they're in love with fussball. And finally, Germans always love themselves a little Pinky G!

Welcome to Pink Godzilla, Spechende Dev Kit?

Little Pinky G wondered off during the festivities. That sheep's about to sample a mittlescharf senf fireball. Senf bitter.

Each day we ran three demo tables. Dankeshane to Alex! and his friend (HG) for helping out with demos.

Larpin' clean, stackin' sheep and still spreadin' the mittlescharf senf.

During setup, Uncle J, Dev Kit's greatest fan, is also one of the world's most feared larpers as evidenced by this crazed hatchet attack on the camera man. Larping fans know him as the man who single-handedly won Azeroth.

Oh, sheissen! We can't bear to watch.

No, the Plushy is not 1 Euro. On day two, 4 attendees who had each purchased a Dev Kit and a T-shirt demanded that we give them one of the plushies. We had none to give because luckily Pinky G was off on an adventure.

Pinky G Strikes back! Saved by an Elder as a young larper tries to catch Pinky off guard. Pinky's Clean Larping Rule #2: Larp clean or an Elder with a light saber will strike you down!

It's always cool to see returnees from the previous year's convention wearing PG gear. And wearing it mighty well we might add...

This will be your last move, Mr. Axe man!

Pinky's Clean Larping Rule #3: Never underestimate a smaller opponent. Nor a pink one. And always take time to pose with your victim's weapon.

When we weren't chasing down Pinky, larpin' dirty or playing Dev Kit at our booth, of course we had to take a minute to explore the world's biggest board gaming convention. Halo Clix was being demoed a few booths away at Pegasus Speil. Me want ein!

OK, this pictures was accidental. The intent was to get the storm trooper with his helmet off but Mr. Master Chief happened to wonder into the pic.... and created caption writer heaven. (No Jake, it's not Boba Fett.)

Eye of Judgement was being shown at several booths. There was always a crowd of people around demos. Given Germany's affinity for boardgames, Eye of Judgement should be a big hit there.
