AUCTION!
Okay, let's speed things up a bit. First, my Finance Phase...
Ooh another Title Card.
I think I can use that. Next comes my Purchase Phase. I think I'm going to hold an auction.
You're going to have to give me some more details on that one.
Right, right. Okay, so when a player declares an auction, suddenly everyone gets involved. Since you can auction up to three cards in the Resource Row, it's a great way to bring a lot of helpful cards into your hand. I begin by declaring the auction and choosing one to three cards from the Resource Rown to auction off.
Okay. What do we bid with?
Each player uses the cards in their hand to come up with a bid amount. The combined point value of your bid cards is your bid amount. You can use as many or as few cards as you like to bid. The player with the highest bid amount wins.
So, you make you bid, and the highest bidder wins the auction. What if you don't want to bid?
It's a good idea to act as though you are bidding even if you aren't, in order to put some pressure on the other players. So, the easiest way to do that is to have each bidder place their bid cards on the table with one hand covering them even if they aren't going to bid. When the person who declared the auction says, all players either flip over their bid cards and declare the total value, or simply lift their hand and say "no bid."
And the winning bidder discards his bid cards in exchange for the cards that were auctioned, right? So if you participate in an auction, not only do you risk not getting the cards you want, but you also have to tip part of your hand. Interesting! I'm guessing all non-winning bidders get to keep their cards?
That's correct. So, I'm going to put the following three cards up for bid: the "Reorganization" Power Up Card, the Weapon Required Gear Card, and the Vehicle Required Gear Card.
Ok. So are you ready? I've got my bid cards ready.
Ready!
3, 2, 1, go!
4 points.
I guess I didn't have to bid quite so many cards.
Ah, but wait! Thanks to my special ability, "The Sniper", I get to draw a card and add it's point value to my bid.
Curses! Undone by my own creation! But, according to the card, you have to subtract two points from the card's value
before you add it to your bid amount. In order to beat me, you'd have to draw a card worth 7 points, and there's only 4 cards in the deck
with point values that high!
Let's see what I got...
NOOOOOOO!!!
Alright, with 9 points, Jumpman takes down the auction!
Oh well, I guess we can all catch a break now and then. While you're contemplating your hand, I'm going to play my
two cards: my Hired Guns Special Ability Card and my Clone Special Ability Card. This completes both my Development
phase and my Going Gold Phase. You're up.
I'm on it.
